I'm Sarie, native of nowhere, former resident of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Missouri, New York and, most recently, North Carolina. My rather liberal parents moved our family around a few times growing up, which ended up instilling in me a love of travel and exploring new places...coupled with a weird, deep-seeded fear of change. But I seem to enjoy torturing myself by forcing myself into new situations fairly often. Embrace your fears, people!

I recently relocated to Seattle, Washington with my husband, Jay, and Ashley the Dog. Professionally, I dabble in non-profit marketing & communications, freelance writing and graphic design. By night and weekend, I dabble in just about everything else you can think of, from singing and making music to writing and reading obsessively to working out 6 days a week to endless crafting and design work to cooking healthful recipes...ah, life!

I call this blog Elegantly Random because at 31 years old, I still have no idea what I want to be when I grow up. I have no absolute plan. But I know what I am - a writer, an artist, a cynic and a critic. This is me, attempting to define myself - the random heap that is Sarie - with style.

Things to know about me:
~ First and foremost, I'm a writer.
~ Winter is my favorite season.
~ My golden retriever is my baby.
~ I'm obsessed with movies and serial television...but I don't like sitcoms. Or romcoms.
~ I love handmade things - knit, crochet, design, painting, photography, etc.
~ I am older than I look.
~ Beach, please.
~ I LOVE to laugh.
~ I don't go to church, but I do have faith.
~ I work out almost every day.
~ I would gladly give myself to Jack White (of the White Stripes). Or Osvaldo Alonso (of the Seattle Sounders FC).
~ If I could have any job, I'd be a pirate.
~ Someday, I want to live in another country.
~ I have acid reflux! and high cholesterol!
~ I'm becoming more liberal by the minute.
~ Although I hate Nicholas Sparks novels, I'd love to BE the next Nicholas Sparks...
~ I support the comeback of Britney Spears.
~ I believe Taye Diggs is stepping up to fill Paul Newman's former spot as the hottest man to ever walk the planet.
~ No one should ever cover Beatles songs.
~ Actually, as it turns out, I DO like diamonds.
